Predrag Markovic (Serbia, 1955) is a Serbian writer, journalist, literary critic and publisher. He was born on December 7, 1955 in Cepure, Paracin. From 1979 to 1992, he was editor of the Student, Knjizevna rec and Vreme newspapers, the Vidici and Knjizevnost magazines and he ran the Pegaz, Albatros and Retrospektiva libraries.
Markovic is a member of PEN and the Serbian Literary Society. He is the owner of the Stubovi kulture publishing house and has written six books. He speaks Serbian, Russian, and Spanish.
Along with literary critique work, Markovic also edits, presents and translates a large amount of themes and books from the topics of Serbian and Hispanic literature of the 20th century and also of the political history of the 19th and 20th centuries.
From 1983 to 2013, he edited approximately one thousand books from the topics of literature, history, law and economy. He founded the publishing house Stubovi kulture in 1993. From 1993 on, this publishing house gathers leading Serbian authors with books published in over a million copies. The publishing house won all the important awards in the country and region and had over 200 translations in 35 countries. On the 20th anniversary of its foundation on July 6, 2013, it was decided to retire the work of the publishing house.

Markovic was co-founder of the G17 Plus organization which was founded in 1999 and he was president of the board in 2001. When the organization became a political party in 2002, he became vice-president but soon withdrew from the party and temporarily from political life. In 2003, the G17 Plus chose him (in absentia) as an honorary president.
From 2001 to 2002, he was the president of the Association of Publishers of Serbia and Montenegro. He became a member of the Privy Council for Serbia in 2002.
From March 4 to July 11, 2004, he was the acting President of Serbia within the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. Markovic was President of the National Assembly of Serbia from 2004 to 2007. On his suggestions, the National Assembly unanimously returned the coat of arms, flag and anthem of Serbia on August 17, 2004 and on June 5, 2006 announced the decision of Serbia’s sovereignty. Markovic organized the writing, declaring and signing of the Constitution of Serbia in 2006.
As the Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society in the Government of Serbia in 2011 and 2012, he presided over the Council of Information Ministers of Southeast Europe after which (in 2012 and 2013) he became a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly and the head of the Serbian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. He returned his mandate in August 2013 after announcing his retirement from politics.
