Nanda Baba das (Bosnia and
Herzegovina, 1951) is a photographer and computer programmer.
Nanda Baba das is a contributor to the Urban Book Circle (Canada).
The following is Nanda’s biography in his own words.
“I was born on February 2, 1951 in Sarajevo, a wonderful city by the Miljacka river, a city with a blend of East and West in which all cultures and nations lived one life. A city in which I spent my childhood snacking on fruit from Sarajevan gardens and swimming in the Bentbasa. In this city, I learned to write my first letters, to count, subtract, multiply and add. I graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo in 1975 with a major in Computer Electronics and Automatics. That same year I began my career in which I worked with many firms. I worked with computers and programming as my main occupation. Later on with the arrival of personal computers, they became my preoccupation. At the beginning of the 1990s, I started holding courses for individual programs for desktop computers. In 1992 the war began and for the entire course of the war I lived in Sarajevo. After the war ended, I continued working for an organization that helps find homes for children without parents. I worked there as an Informatics instructor and organized various computer-related courses for children. Ever since my student days, I was interested in photography and amateur film so I was member of the Sarajevo Photo Club for a long time. In this organization, along with computer courses, I organized photography and animated film courses as well. Nanda Baba das is my spiritual name. Nusret Custovic or Custa as I’m more commonly known I now rarely use except for when I have to.”
