Misery, Legacy and an Antibiotic
|
You won’t learn misery,
won’t read about it You can’t be rescued from its bedrock She is your birthright, your legacy. Your ancestors bathed in its backwaters before you, so, don’t you come out without your trunks and your small change for the beach. So, don’t you be ogling those tanned legs at the beach, ignore the parasols and the ice chests, hold on to misery and float on your tears, that’s the legacy. Your sails will glide by temples along the shore, don’t you be stopping by for a prayer, ignore the fat promises and the friars, dream not dreams, but your parents That’s the legacy, join in and float on. And when the currents lift you to the lake’s circle: Come out naked, rested and strong, Go forth and clear the brushwood, Strike the fire, Eat the flesh of the wild, That’s nature and the legacy, Be natural and keep it changing. And never look at pictures of the river, Just walk on and be happy, That’s the legacy, that’s You. Field – photo by Sanja Nesic, Serbian Italian photographer and contributor to the Urban Book Circle.
