B I O G R A P H Y

Jasmina Topic (Serbia, 1977) is a professor of Serbian literature, writer and literary critic. She has published the following books: Sunflowers, Portrait for the Day (Zajednica knjizevnika Panceva, 1997), Boarding House Metamorphoses (Centar za stvaralastvo mladih Beograd, 2001), Romanticism (Narodna knjiga – Alfa, 2005) and A Quiet Renewal of Summer (Povelja, Kraljevo, 2007). She writes book reviews and occasionally publishes short stories which have been published in the books Project Cortasar (Povelja, 2003) and Lexicon of God’s People (Sluzbeni glasnik Beograd, 2010). For her collection of poetry Boarding House Metamorphoses, she received the “Matic’s Scarf” award in 2002 for the best book of poetry. In 2008, she stayed in Vienna as the recipient of a literary grant provided by the Austrian KulturKontakt. She edits a collection of poetry and short fiction by young authors from the former Yugoslavia called Manuscripts and co-edits the art periodical Kvartal from Pancevo. Apart from the books that she has published, she has also produced a multimedia presentation of her book A Quiet Renewal of Summer, consisting of ten poetic music videos in Serbian and English. She is a contributor and honourable member of the Urban Book Circle (Canada). In 2008, she wrote columns for the internet portal Air Beletrina and she cooperates with the Ljubljana-based daily newspaper Dnevnik since 2006.
