Danijela Kovacevic Mikic was born on July 10, 1971 in Gradiska, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She published poetry while studying but upon graduating and acquiring the Instructor of Serbian Language and Literature with Comparative Literature bachelor’s degree at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philology (where she would also later earn her master’s degree), her inner literary critic voice silenced (for good?) the poet in herself.
Kovacevic Mikic used to work as a school librarian and a teacher of Serbian language and literature in Belgrade and Ivanjica. She is now employed as an educational advisor in Cacak and she is involved with both the professional development of educators and the external evaluation of educational institutional quality. At times, she publishes literary critiques and scientific papers in literary periodicals and scientific collections of works.
She is the author of several projects at the local level including Local Writers in the Eye of a Teacher, Cultivate Your Language When on Holiday, the School Publishing Fair and the accredited training program titled Say it Properly – Nourishing Speech Culture (which, as an accredited professional development program, was implemented over three years throughout Serbia).
Kovacevic Mikic initiated the magazine for pedagogical theory and practice titled Az at the Regional Centre for the Professional Development of Educators in Cacak and the Raskovnik workshop of speech culture for children and young people as she is particularly interested in the drama method in teaching literature. Danijela Kovacevic Mikic is an honourable member and educational program editor of the Urban Book Circle (Canada).
