Ljubodrag “Duci” Simonovic (Serbia, 1949) is a Serbian philosopher, author and former basketball player.
He was born on January 1, 1949 to Jevrem and Ilonka (née Dobai). He received the nickname Duci at a young age and it stems from the Hungarian word böci.
In 1967, having graduated from the XI Belgrade Gymnasium and simultaneous to his duties at the Red Star Belgrade Basketball Club, Simonovic enrolled at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Law, attending lectures and studying for exams. As a freshman at the University, Duci took part in the 1968 student demonstrations.
He was a member of the Yugoslav national basketball team that won first place at the FIBA World Championship in 1970 in Ljubljana. He was also member of the European All-Star team.
In 1971, Simonovic graduated from the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Law.
He left the 1972 Munich Olympic Games in protest against the covering up – by FIBA, IOC and the Yugoslav Olympic leadership – of the proven doping of the Puerto Rican basketball team and was consequently thrown out of the Yugoslav national team.
He has written and published numerous books in Serbian, English and Russian and is the author of the documentary film titled The Olympic Flame. Simonovic is a contributor to the Urban Book Circle. He also holds a PhD from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy.
He is married and has three children: two sons and one daughter. He also has three grandchildren.
